Manual Medicine

The manual medicine (chiropractic) deals with dysfunction and pain of the musculoskeletal system.

For diagnosis and treatment of these disorders, the manual medicine uses various techniques to handle muscles, connective tissue, joints and spine. The overall goal is to restore the capability of movement in the body.

But even back pain, certain types of headaches and flattening of the skull and restlessness in infants and young children may be treated well with manual medicine.

The focus in manual medicine is on the palpation and treatment of muscle and joint disorders. Osteopathic treatments are build on manual medicine and complement the manual medicine techniques to the internal organs and the central nervous system.

To complete the diagnosis we ask also for the medical history, do a general physical examination and, if necessary, send you to special investigation methods such as X-ray, computed tomography or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).

Typical techniques that are found in the manual medicine application:

MOBILIZATION

Increases the restricted mobility by passive, repetitive movements, strain and / or sliding movements at low speed and to an increasing extent.

MANIPULATION

Sometimes it is possible to eliminate a limitation (blocking) even by a short and rapid pulse with minimal path and low power.

SOFT TISSUE TECHNIQUES

By slow transverse or longitudinal treatment of muscles and connective tissue structures or pressing the muscle attachments, the muscle tension is influenced and blood circulation and metabolism are stimulated.

NEUROMUSCULAR TECHNIQUES

By muscular relaxation as well as through active mobilization of the joints malfunctions are fixed on neurophysiological way.
